February 2005 Archives
It's all about Here Come the ABCs now. And yeah, Brad and I have listened to this one without Henry around. I can't get "Alphabet Lost and Found" out of my head, and that's not yet a bad thing.
There was an apple that lost his 'a'
There was a zebra that lost his 'z'
There was a chauffeur that left his 'auffer' on the dashboard
Of the car that lost its 'r'
Well, the car had lost its 'r' in a pothole
On a street that lost its 'e'
When the garbage collector with a missing 'ector' swept it up
With a broom that lost its 'oom'
Spring Training 2005 officially begins today, as pitchers and catchers report to camp in Peoria. The first Spring Training game is in just over two weeks and the first regular-season game is five weeks after that. We can hardly wait!
When we're in the car, Henry likes to listen to music. Sometimes the same music over and over and over and over and over until we just want to scream. You see, he's studying. He wants to hear the same songs repeatedly so that he can learn the words. How else would he be able to sing said songs at the top of his lungs randomly throughout the day? It's actually okay with us most of the time, though we do veto his choices pretty regularly. The thing that really bugs us is constantly switching CDs after he's only listened to one or two tracks. Almost every time we get in the car he immediately says one of two things: "I want to pick out a new CD" or "put on that CD that's already in there." If we listen to something new (new to him) and he likes it, he wants us to show him the CD before we put it away so he'll be able to pick it out again later.
Anyway, about this time last year we were gearing up for our big Spring Training trip. I decided to burn a CD-R containing just his favorite tracks. Not surprisingly, it was a hit. We ended up listening to the same stuff, but without the inconvenience of swapping CDs every ten minutes. Plus, with all his favorites on one CD, it was easier to expand the rotation a bit and include more of the music WE wanted to listen to. Since then, I've burned a new CD every few months as his tastes change.
Just two short weeks after returning home, we've managed to get our Hawaii trip pictures online. That's got to be some sort of record for us. We've also posted pictures our our Disneyland trip. One of these days, we'll be posting a bunch of other miscellaneous pictures that will pick up where these leave off.
On a related topic, we used iPhoto to manage, edit, and caption the Hawaii pictures. We normally use iView Media Pro, but we didn't have it on Kathy's computer when we were in Hawaii, so we just switched to iPhoto for the trip. While we were gone, a new version of iPhoto was released as part of the iLife '05 suite, so I thought we'd give it a try.
