Henry's Music

When we’re in the car, Henry likes to listen to music. Sometimes the same music over and over and over and over and over until we just want to scream. You see, he’s studying. He wants to hear the same songs repeatedly so that he can learn the words. How else would he be able to sing said songs at the top of his lungs randomly throughout the day? It’s actually okay with us most of the time, though we do veto his choices pretty regularly. The thing that really bugs us is constantly switching CDs after he’s only listened to one or two tracks. Almost every time we get in the car he immediately says one of two things: “I want to pick out a new CD” or “put on that CD that’s already in there.” If we listen to something new (new to him) and he likes it, he wants us to show him the CD before we put it away so he’ll be able to pick it out again later.

Anyway, about this time last year we were gearing up for our big Spring Training trip. I decided to burn a CD-R containing just his favorite tracks. Not surprisingly, it was a hit. We ended up listening to the same stuff, but without the inconvenience of swapping CDs every ten minutes. Plus, with all his favorites on one CD, it was easier to expand the rotation a bit and include more of the music WE wanted to listen to. Since then, I’ve burned a new CD every few months as his tastes change.

So, without further ado and for no particular reason, I present the latest Henry CD (links are to the iTunes Music Store, with a couple exceptions):

Of course, after a little while, he starts listening to just a few tracks on his special CD and we have to do the whole thing over again. Lately, he’s been really into Old Joe’s Place from the soundtrack to A Mighty Wind, The Magnificent Seven by The Clash and Creepy by Mono Puff. I’m sure they’ll make in onto the next CD. We’re happy to say he found It’s Fun to Steal only mildly entertaining.
