Yet Another Soundex Converter (YASC)
Yes this is yet another Soundex converter. Give it a list of surnames and it will spit out the Soundex code for each of them. Don’t know what Soundex is? Check out my overview of soundex to be enlightened. If you have any problems with this converter, please let me know.
YASC is an Internet old timer. I wrote the first version way back in 1996 when I was unable to find another one that could process an entire list of surnames at once. The first version was written in Frontier and ran on a Power Mac 8500 behind a WebStar server. In 1999, I rewrote it in Perl so it could run on a shared Linux server. Finally, in 2013, I rewrote it again in JavaScript (Atwood’s Law strikes again!). This version runs entirely within your web browser. It’s speedy, efficient, and no information is passed to the bradandkathy.com server.
