Notes |
- Peter founded the Lake County Savings and Trust in Hammond, Indiana, which eventually became the First Trust and Savings Bank. The bank failed during the great depression (2 February 1931). Peter, his son Walter, and another officer of the bank were charged with malfeasance. On 9 February 1932, Peter entered a guilty plea to a single county of makign an unauthorized loan, with sentencing deferred as he continued to assist the bank’s receiver. He liquidated much of his own estate to pay back creditors and depositors of the bank and contemporary news articles paint him sympathetically. [7, 8, 9, 10]
