  Research Notes	Name is given as “Birgitte” in 1850 census. I originally recorded her surname as “Kolberg,” but it is unclear whether this was a surname or her birthplace. Several records, including her marriage record and the birth record for her daughter Laura list is as a birthplace (with the patronymic Jensdatter). On the other hand, she appears in the 1834 census as Birthe Kirstine Kolbert in a list that does not include birthplaces for any other family members. Also, her birthplace is listed as Bornholm in the 1850 census. If Kolberg is her birthplace, it is unclear where this is. There is a Kolberg in Germany (now Kołobrzeg, Poland) right on the Baltic. Bornholm is in the path between Kolberg and Copenhagen. There is also a Koelbjerg on Fyn.  [3, 4, 5]
