Notes |
- Killed during a robbery by Charles MacArthur Malone and David Franklin Frye, both of Bristol, Tennessee. The two ransacked Arthur’s home and laid in wait for three days for his return. Arthur was ambushed and shot in his driveway as he stepped out of his car. His body, covered in a quilt, was discovered the next morning by his brothers Ross and Charlie. The two were convicted and sentenced to 100-year prison sentences (the prosecution has requested the death penalty, but the jury returned 100-year sentences instead, in part because the Poore family was opposed to the death penalty). In 1976, their sentences were commuted to 30 years by governor Ray Blanton and the Malone and Frye were released to two years of probation. [9, 10, 11, 12, 13]
