    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Also Known As: Max Perlin
    • Occupation: Glove manufacturer
    • Occupation: Salesman at Varnish plant
    • Research Notes: All information from family sources gives his surname as “Perlin.” Searching for him under that name was a dead end. Eventually found the 1880 census record of his father’s household under the name “Perlinsky,” which led to many other corroborating records, including his marriage record and the 1900 census entry. Wendell Mohr indicates that the Perlins lived in Visalia, California. Birth month given as April 1866 in 1900 census.

Maxwell married Marie Franseska Mohr on 10 Sep 1895 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. Marie (daughter of Heinrich Frederik Ludwig Mohr and Ane Marie Sørensen) was born on 10 Jul 1877 in Øster Assels, Morsø Sønder, Thisted, Denmark; was christened on 29 Jul 1877 in Øster Assels, Morsø Sønder, Thisted, Denmark; died on 9 Aug 1950 in Los Angeles County, California, USA; was buried on 11 Aug 1950 in Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Marie Franseska Mohr was born on 10 Jul 1877 in Øster Assels, Morsø Sønder, Thisted, Denmark; was christened on 29 Jul 1877 in Øster Assels, Morsø Sønder, Thisted, Denmark (daughter of Heinrich Frederik Ludwig Mohr and Ane Marie Sørensen); died on 9 Aug 1950 in Los Angeles County, California, USA; was buried on 11 Aug 1950 in Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California, USA.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Also Known As: Frances
    • Cause of Death: Lung and breast cancer
    • Occupation: Practical nurse, private home
    • Research Notes: Frances is listed twice in the 1900 census: once with her husband and family and again with her father and siblings. Age given by 1930 census (57) does not match other information, including 1900 census, 1910 census (32) and the age at marriage from the 1930 census. Also, 1930 census gives year of emigration as 1877, which seems rather unlikely, as her parents did not emigrate until the 1890s (though it does appear she did not emigrate at the same time as her mother and siblings). Immigration year is given as 1893 in 1910 census. California Death Index gives birth year as 1877. Also lists mother’s maiden name as “Sorensen.” Funeral program lists birthplace as Jutland, Denmark. Full name originally from 1880 Census entry (previously known only as Frances). The birth certificates of her children list her name as Frances Marie. Name given as “Fransiska Mohr” in 1885 census. Living with the family of her daughter Mildred at the time of the 1950 census.
    • Census: 1880, Frederiksberg, København, Denmark

    • Burial: 6 Sep 1950, Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California, USA

    Notes:

According to Wendell Mohr’s notes, Frances had moved to California by 1949, but she appears in the 1940 census in the household of her daughter Mildred in Chicago. Her death certificate indicates that she had lived in California for just 7 weeks before her death.

    • Cause of Death: Arterial schlerosis

    • Religion: Lutheran
    • Research Notes: Wendell Mohr gave birthdate as “about 1850.” I have been unable to find Heinrich in the 1930 census. He died at about the same time as the census was being enumerated, so it’s possible that he was missed. Death certificate gives residence address as 4125 Cornelia Ave, Chicago, which was the home of his daughter Thora and her husband Alfred Wilhelm Hansen. Death certificate lists father’s birthplace as Hamburg, Germany and mothers as Fyen, Denmark.

Heinrich married Ane Marie Sørensen on 8 Feb 1874 in Nykøbing Mors, Thisted, Denmark. Ane (daughter of Søren Andersen Lÿkke and Maren Andersdatter) was born on 11 Oct 1847 in Solbjerg, Thisted, Denmark; was christened on 14 Oct 1847 in Solbjerg, Thisted, Denmark; died on 21 Jun 1918 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA; was buried on 24 Jun 1918 in Mount Olive Cemetery, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  4. 11.  Ane Marie Sørensen was born on 11 Oct 1847 in Solbjerg, Thisted, Denmark; was christened on 14 Oct 1847 in Solbjerg, Thisted, Denmark (daughter of Søren Andersen Lÿkke and Maren Andersdatter); died on 21 Jun 1918 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA; was buried on 24 Jun 1918 in Mount Olive Cemetery, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Cause of Death: Nephritis
    • Occupation: Housewife
    • Religion: Lutheran
    • Medical Notes: According to census records, Anna had two children that died before 1900 (9 born, 7 surviving). This corresponds to the two daughters who died in Denmark (Emma and Maren), which means there was no additional son (Henry). Died of “chronic nephritis, with secondary uraemia.”
    • Research Notes: Mt. Olive Cemetary burial record gives age at death at 70 years. Wendell Mohr and 1910 census give first name as “Anna.” Clifford Mohr always said her maiden name was Lÿkke, but that doesn’t seem right. Her death certificate lists her father’s name as Anders Sorensen, Thorwald Mohr’s Christening certificate lists her name as Sorensen, and the California Death Index entries for two of her daughters (Frances and Dagmar) each give her maiden name as Sorensen as well. Other records all support this: birth records of her other children, danish census, marriage, and finally her birth record! It seems her father had the tilnavn Lÿkke, but such names are not usually passed on to daughters. 1885 census (Folketælling) gives her birthplace as Nykøbing på Mors. This sent me in the right direction, but the 1880 census is more accurate, giving her correct birthplace: Solbjerg, Thisted Amt.
