  1. 6.  Andrew Hansen Lund was born on 28 Sep 1848 in Jels, Haderslev, Denmark (son of Iver Hansen Lund and Anna Catherina Fredericksen); died on 3 Mar 1930 in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; was buried on 7 Mar 1930 in Red Deer Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Occupation: Carpenter and carriage maker
    • Occupation: Farmer
    • Research Notes: 1900 Census indicates that Andrew was born in Germany of a Danish father and German mother, this is contradicted by other information, including the 1880 census, which indicates that he was born in Denmark. On the other hand, the record of his marriage to Lizzie Oestmann, gives his birthplace as Schleswig, Germany, which could explain the apparent contradiction. The place he was born may have been Denmark at one point in time and Germany at another.
    • Emigration: 1868
    • Census: 1880, Sabula, Jackson County, Iowa, USA
    • Census: 1900, Sabula, Jackson County, Iowa, USA
    • Residence: Aug 1911, Pine Lake, Alberta, Canada

    Notes:

At one time lived in Sabula, Iowa. Homesteaded north of Pine Lake in Alberta, Canada, 1901.

In 1880, Andrew Lund lived with his children as a boarder in the household of the blacksmith John Memphfer, 45 Pearl Street, Sabula, Iowa. He was listed as a widower. John is the husband of Andrew’s sister-in-law, Elizabeth Franzen.

Andrew married Elise Fredricka Oestmann on 10 Jun 1886 in Lyons, Clinton County, Iowa, USA. Elise (daughter of Jacob Oestmann and Fenne Adelheit Franzen) was born on 14 Jul 1864 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA; died on 16 Mar 1946 in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; was buried in Mar 1946 in Red Deer Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 7.  Elise Fredricka Oestmann was born on 14 Jul 1864 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA (daughter of Jacob Oestmann and Fenne Adelheit Franzen); died on 16 Mar 1946 in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; was buried in Mar 1946 in Red Deer Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Also Known As: Lizzie, Elizabeth
    • Research Notes: 1870 census gives first name as “Eliza.”

    • Census: 1880, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA
    • Census: 1900, Sabula, Jackson County, Iowa, USA

    Notes:

Lived in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Married again.

    Census:
    202 Rucker Street

    Notes:

1900 census indicates that Andrew and Eliza had been married for 28 years, which would put their marriage in about 1872, when Eliza was just 8. As Andrew’s first wife didn’t die until 1879, this seems unlikely.

    Children:
    1. George Andrew Lund was born on 13 Jun 1887 in Sabula, Jackson County, Iowa, USA; died on 26 Feb 1950 in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; was buried on 1 Mar 1950 in Red Deer Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
