Worked as a switchman on the railroad after leaving the military. Emigrated to America in 1887 with Emilie and three youngest children (August and Rudolph had emigrated earlier with their grandmother Susanna).

This is about 110km from Laskowitz, where she gave birth to her first two children. Elaine Schoelzel has a birthdate of 11 May 1845 in her more recent information.
