• Notes

  Sometime before 1845, he went from Schale to Holland, from which he left for America, arriving 4 July 1845. On 18 July 1845, he met his uncle Gerhard Miller in Chicago and went to stay with him at the “Escher settlement” near Des Plaines. Licensed to preach by the Evangelical Association on 2 May 1848.
