Notes |
- From his obituary in the Boston Herald: “Born in Everett, he was raised in Salem. He began his military career as one of the youngest commissioned officers at that time. Mr. Bourgeois was stationed in submarines at Pearl Harbor and later in Washington, D.C., at the National War College. He traveled around the world on many diplomatic trips. His last tour of duty was with the 6th Fleet out of Naples, Italy. After 29 years of service, Mr. Bourgeois retired from the Navy and moved back to Melrose. He began a new career as a businessman, buying the Walter Dyer Leather Shop on Beacon Hill in Boston. At one time, his family owned seven leather shops.” [4]
